Atomic Cartoons Inc. is an award-winning animation studio with locations in Vancouver's Mt. Pleasant Animation District, Ottawa's Hintonburg neighborhood and LA. Since its inception over 20 years ago, Atomic Cartoons has created and produced numerous 2D and CG animation productions including Princess Power and Last Kids on Earth. WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Take direction from the Art Director.
- Design diverse characters and/or props for a 2D production.
- Work efficiently and within the established workflow.
- Participate in department meetings as required.
- Share ideas, collaborate and work closely with all members of the design team.
- Work with the Art Director to lead, teach and guide a team of Designers to create the assigned show style.
- Work closely with Art Director on each episode to achieve deliverables, while creating workflow efficiency.
- Work closely with the Department Production Coordinator and Art Director to proactively flag and problem-solve any potential issues.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- A strong portfolio that demonstrates your understanding of art fundamentals such as structure, composition, and design principles.
- A diverse portfolio that portrays a wide variety of styles; with examples of varied character design.
- Excellent visual skills and attention to detail.
- A willingness to work in a team, take direction and have a positive attitude.
- Prior experience working on a 2D animated feature or series in a character or prop design role is an asset.
- Previous experience in a lead role is an asset.
- Ability to Mentor, motivate, and lead design team members.
- Comfortable working with production on task assignment of the team.
- Currently legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Ontario residents residing outside of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) are preferred for this role.
