We are looking for a technically minded artist to join our 2D team in a Technical Director role. The Technical Director is responsible for establishing and maintaining the technical expectations of the show while meeting and following up on the production assumptions set out in the PSA.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Work with production Directors, Animation Directors, Line Producers and the production team to ensure project scope is manageable within the schedule and resources.
  • Work with clients during pre-production providing education and expectation management to set up productions for success.
  • Establish and maintain technical project expectations.
  • Assess designs and creative expectations of projects and provide technical support during production.
  • Provide technical guidance to supervisors and departments across the project.
  • Mentor and provide feedback to department supervisors.
  • Attend and participate in training initiatives.

 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • 4 or more years in a supervisory role in 2D animation (Storyboards, Builds, Animation, FX and/or Compositing.
  • A strong understanding of 2D animation and the 2D Harmony animation pipeline.
  • Prior experience leading and mentoring a team.
  • A strong sense of teamwork and collaboration.
  • An ability to problem solve both creative and technical problems.
  • Communicate technical and non-technical ideas to a wide variety of people.
  • Experience working across multiple 2D departments in a supervisory role is an asset for this role.
  • Prior experience as an Animation Director or Director is an asset for this role.
  • Scripting experience in an asset for this role.
  • Currently legally eligible to work in Canada.
