Finance Manager

As our Finance Manager, you will report to the CEO and will be responsible for all aspects of our accounting and finance  as well as our contract administration. You will have ownership of business planning and financial reporting. You will be responsible for generating forecasts, projections and financial scenarios on an ongoing basis to support the operations objectives. You will work closely with all members of our small but growing team to build our business model and provide financial data to enable sound decision making around product options and revenues. You will also be responsible for managing our client contracts, including contributing to the proposal analysis, and ultimately working with operations and preparing the invoicing when the contracts are secured. You will maintain our bookings backlog and pipeline. You will also create our annual budgets and provide regular forecasts. And you will manage our tax filings, reporting and audits as they are necessary. In other words you will be responsible for all financial functions of the Company  including accounting, financial reporting, cash flow management systems, budgeting, and forecasting. You must be a hands-on, roll up your sleeves type and you should enjoy fast-paced, start-up environments.

These are the things we’d like you to do:

  • Be a trusted advisor to the CEO and members of the executive management team
  • Implement best practices and necessary software tools to support the company today and with an eye towards rapid growth
  • Implement and maintain effective internal controls over all financial activities of Atlas
  • Develop and maintain a variety of financial models and projections ranging from a monthly rolling forecast to multi year forecasts as needed to support the growth of the business
  • Work with the business team to build and analyze product pricing scenarios
  • Prepare costings and terms for government and commercial contracts
  • Take ownership of the Company’s financial forecasting and planning
  • Prepare financial and operating analyses that support business decision making
  • Proactively manage the cash flow of the company
  • Review contracts and subcontracts for completeness and risk management issues
  • Assist the Company with equity and debt financings
  • Prepare and present financial reporting and analysis to plan to the Company’s CEO, management team and Board of Directors
  • Oversee tax-related matters to ensure timely compliance
  • Oversee all audits/reviews (financial, tax, bank, etc.), maintain the relationship with external auditors, and ensure compliance of GAAP requirements
  • Assist with special projects assigned by the CEO and/or Board of Directors


These are the skills we’d like you to have:

  • 5 + years of financial leadership
  • 2 + years of experience in venture-backed, emerging growth companies
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; MBA/CPA preferred
  • Experience with quickbooks,, expensify a plus
  • Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods
  • Ability to strategize and problem solve
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Strong project management skills including the ability to multi-task, prioritize and respond quickly to a rapidly changing environment
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong critical thinking skills and growth mind-set
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with emphasis on team collaboration and ability to influence across functions and drive consensus
  • Independent, proactive and comfortable asking the hard questions


These  skills are big pluses:

  • Passionate about making a difference in developing nations and helping the underserved
  • Experience in working with government and NGO contracting, including DARPA, NSF, the World Bank etc.
  • Experience with commercial contracting
  • Strong relationships within the international development sector
