POSITION SUMMARY:

Atalanta is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Scientist I or Scientist II to join our Neuroscience Biology team to support Atalanta’s therapeutic development programs.  This individual will be responsible for planning, developing, optimizing, validating, and executing bioanalytical methods for assessment of drug pharmacodynamics during the preclinical development of novel oligonucleotide therapies. The successful candidate will contribute to multiple drug development programs with a focus on translational efforts to enable clinical development.

The Scientist I/II should have extensive experience in biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology as well as considerable experience in establishing robust assays for protein and mRNA quantitation. This position is ideal for a candidate who is creative, highly collaborative, results-oriented, and desires to contribute to development of novel therapeutics for severe neurological diseases.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, develop and validate biochemical and molecular assays to support in-house pre-clinical PK/PD assessments
  • Molecular and cellular biology as needed to generate reproducible model systems.
  • Plan and execute study sample bioanalysis to support early development and preclinical studies including assay transfer and oversight of internal groups or CROs.
  • Independent analysis and interpretation of data, careful documentation of experiments, and presentation of results within the company.
  • Evaluate study conduct and research data for scientific integrity and communicate study progress and data through presentations and reports
  • Assist with tech transfer of assays to internal and external labs as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A PhD in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, neuroscience, or similar discipline is required
  • A minimum of 2-5 years of industry or academic lab research experience is required, preferably within the biotech/pharmaceutical industry
  • In-depth experience with biochemistry and molecular biology techniques, including ELISA/MesoScale Discovery, Western blot, and mRNA expression analysis (qRT-PCR).
  • Experience turning prototype experiments into reproducible assays
  • Familiarity with GLP regulatory expectations, with the ability to translate those into actionable plans
  • Self-motivation, ability to work independently, and excellent organization skills with strong attention to detail is required
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and attention to detail
