Covering a period of parental leave running from December 2022 till approximately December 2023, the VP People & Culture will attract, retain, motivate, and facilitate a superstar team of A-players by nurturing an outstanding company culture rooted in transparency, learning, and personal and professional growth. 

This is a hybrid position, with the successful candidate spending time in our Berlin office on a weekly basis (usually 1 - 3 days).

What you will achieve: 

  • Responsibility for setting, implementing and evaluating values-aligned and legally compliant human resources policies and procedures, acting as the voice of HR to the exec leadership team  
  • Oversee daily workflow of People Operations across the company, ensuring the entire employee lifecycle is well communicated, functional, and easy to navigate for managers and employees. Lead on sensitive Employee Relations issues.  
  • Play an active role in the recruitment of more senior or impactful roles.  
  • Manage bi-annual company-wide talent and performance process, including designing and constantly refining Performance Philosophy and related materials (9 block, values-based competencies, Personal Development Plans) 
  • Devise and manage company-wide Compensation Strategy and bi-annual compensation reviews (cash and non-cash comp). Responsible for the Board Compensation Committee, working to prepare and execute these meetings. Oversight of Payroll and Benefits team.  
  • Oversee annual Engagement Survey and quarterly pulse surveys. Process and analyse results, presenting to leadership team and board. Design and implement programmes in response to survey responses, including setting up engagement focus/working groups. Active participation in DE&I working group. 
  • Recruit, direct, supervise and motivate HR, Talent Acquisition and Internal Communications Teams (direct management of approx. 5).  
     

Education, Experience and Skills necessary for the role:  

  • Bachelor or Master's degree in HR, Organizational Psychology, Business, Management, or related field 
  • Strong people management experience, including leading international teams 
  • Experience or understanding of Compensation & Benefits, Talent & Performance, L&D. Good understanding of legal frameworks in UK, US, and DE a plus.  
  • Must be very motivated by atai mission; strong cultural and values alignment with atai, to act as role model for wider business
