Position Summary
Assured Guaranty is seeking a Tax Manager for our New York based Accounting – Tax team.
Position Description
• Review of federal and state income tax returns.
• Review of quarterly federal and state estimated tax payment calculations along with extensions and related filings.
• Preparation and review of GAAP (ASC 740) and Statutory (SSAP 101) income tax provisions and supporting documentation. This includes the calculation and review of deferred tax inventory items and maintenance and reconciliation of consolidated current and deferred tax balance sheet accounts and financial statement disclosures.
• Coordinate with outside tax advisors in foreign jurisdictions to review international filings and other international reporting.
• Manage responses to audit examiners including IRS and state.
• Manage Sarbanes-Oxley documentation of tax process and procedures and examination by auditors of financial statements.
• Perform tax research and preparation of tax memorandum.
• Keep up-to-date on latest developments as they affect tax regulations and policies.
• Manage other members of the tax department.
Candidate Background
• 7 to 10 years of tax experience in public accounting or corporate tax department.
• CPA or graduate degree preferred.
• Experience managing professional staff and outside tax advisors.
• Federal, State and international income taxation compliance and accounting experience. Insurance tax experience is a plus.
• Solid foundation of GAAP (ASC 740) and Statutory (SSAP 101) tax provision experience is a plus.
• Solid PC skills, including Microsoft Windows, Office applications and tax preparation software (FAST-Tax/Go-systems). PeopleSoft skills a plus.
• Be a highly-motivated self-starter and successful in a "Team" oriented setting.
• Be able to quickly process information and master complex concepts.
• Possess a solid understanding of accounting theory, tax and accounting practices.
• Have exceptional organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Be able to work under pressure, multi-task and meet deadlines.
• Have strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), including ability to simplify and communicate complex business information.
Compensation
Annual base salary for the position is expected to be from $145,000 per year to $165,000 per year. The actual salary will depend on various factors, including but not limited to a candidate’s experience and credentials, salary expectations of applicable candidates, and other applicable market conditions. This position also provides applicable employee benefits, as well as eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus.
