The purpose of this position is to i) originate new business in the project finance/infrastructure market in the Americas, primarily the U.S. and ii) to evaluate complex transactions, write credit reports, prepare cash flow models and make insurance recommendations to Assured senior management and credit committee. Particular emphasis is on an individual who can originate transactions segments of the energy sector that are potentially insurable.
Position Description
Business Development/Marketing
Use existing relationships with market participants (bankers, advisors, developers) to originate new business.
Develop new relationships with market participants to originate business.
Actively support general marketing efforts such as attending conferences and speaking on panels as well as arranging and hosting client events.
Analytical
Understand monoline risk appetite and evaluate financial guaranty opportunities.
Comprehensively analyze infrastructure, project finance and complex muni structured credits.
Prepare and perform cash flow modeling and sensitivity analysis to include in credit presentations.
Prepare underwriting reports and perform oral presentation to credit committee.
Transaction Flow
Effectively manage banker/advisor expectations and negotiate deal terms and conditions as applicable.
Communicate Assured Guaranty credit criteria and basic business parameters to bankers and advisors.
Lead the presentation to credit committee and be the primary point of contact with credit officers.
Be the primary point of contact working with legal staff to review documents, negotiate and close transactions.
Candidate Background
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel and financial modelling skills.
Ability to prepare PowerPoint presentations.
Experience in understanding U.S. P3 transaction structures as well as how most transportation projects are structured is strongly preferred.
Experience in transactions involving energy and contacts in segments of the energy industry that is potentially insurable are required.
Experience in transactions involving transportation and social infrastructure is helpful and preferred.
Experience analyzing demand risk (e.g. traffic risk or student rental risk) is required.
Experience analyzing construction risk is required.
Experience understanding rating agency criteria for infra/project finance is strongly preferred.
Experience in reading legal documents for infrastructure and project finance transactions is required.
Experience in a senior position analyzing credit and interacting with market participants either at a monoline or an asset manager is strongly preferred.
Network of industry contacts to support new business origination is required.
Relevant professional designation (e.g. Chartered Financial Analyst) or M.B.A. is preferred.
Compensation
Annual base salary for the position is expected to be from $225,000 per year to $275,000 per year. The actual salary will depend on various factors, including but not limited to a candidate’s experience and credentials, salary expectations of applicable candidates, and other applicable market conditions. This position also provides applicable employee benefits, as well as eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus.
