Job Summary:

Arizona Liver Health is looking for qualified candidates to fill the SOC Phlebotomist position. Qualified candidates will possess great patient service skills and with a passion for growing their skillsets in clinical research. 

This role is expected to provide excellent phlebotomy patient service and requires high organizational skills in order to process and ship lab samples while following clinical research protocols and regulatory requirements.


Title: SOC Phlebotomist

Status: Full-time, Non-exempt

Compensation: $18 - $27 per hour, depending on experience


Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicate and assist patients in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Follow all health and safety protocols and procedures to maintain sanitary work areas
  • Assures patient waiting times are in the best interest of the patient.
  • Verify and complete orders. Identify the patient and confirm the correct patient record.
  • Work with supervising providers and always follow their directions.
  • Complete appropriate laboratory forms, documenting tests performed and noting the diagnoses correlating to tests performed as needed.
  • Evaluate each request for a laboratory test to identify proper number and type of tubes necessary to facilitate distribution to appropriate laboratory.
  • Successfully draw blood from patients with minimal or no complications.
  • Keep an inventory for SOC laboratory, order and maintain adequate laboratory supplies, including needles, sample vials, blood storage bags and test tubes.
  • Monthly, review expiry dates on all supplies.
  • Clean and maintain the drawing station and any equipment
  • Perform laboratory interface reconciliation weekly inside the EMR

Additional responsibilities

  • Maintains professional certification and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; and establishing personal networks.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned or requested by the Practice Administrator and Team Supervisor

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required:

  • Excellent computer skills
  • Knowledge of filing and charting procedures
  • Ability to use technology, equipment, and make calculations

Education and/or Trainings Required:

  • High school diploma or GED required // Associates Degree from an accredited institution preferred
  • Phlebotomy certification or diploma from an accredited program
  • Minimum 2 years experience working in a clinical setting

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to lift at least 25 lbs.
  • Able to walk and stand for at least 50% of the day
  • Able to sit for at least 50% of the day
  • Communicate: hearing, talking, vision
  • Able to type and do computer work for long periods

Travel Requirements

  • Some interoffice travel may be required with use of company vehicle or mileage reimbursement

Work authorization/security clearance requirements. 

  • Must have valid documentation and authorization to work in the U.S. for any employer
