Meet the team:
The Driverless Launch Technical Lead will work cross functionally to support the implementation of driverless systems across the Systems Engineering organization. The role will partner closely with Product, Autonomy Testing, Hardware & Firmware and Senior Leadership, to name a few teams.
What you’ll do:
- The Driverless Launch Technical Lead is responsible for establishing & following through on the technical strategy for Driverless deployment in our launch cities, which spans:
- Identifying macro and micro Operational Design Domain (ODD) progressions alongside Product, Systems, Safety, Software, and Technical Program Management teams
- Scoping & identifying future potential launch cities and candidates based on both technical capabilities and business needs
- Identifying relevant detailed requirements, analyses, and tests for each Driverless Deployment & ODD alongside Product, Systems, Safety, Hardware, Software, and Technical Program Management teams
- Identifying tooling & infrastructure needs to support Driverless Deployments across different ODDs, cities, and scale. This can span from Triage tooling, Metrics tooling, Operations tooling, and more
- Ensuring Fleet Operations processes amongst different cities are set up to succeed to enable driverless deployments across varying scales
- Working across Legal, Compliance, and Regulatory teams to ensure Driverless Deployments comply with respective internal & external requirements
- Engaging with Argo’s Global Leadership Team for all Driverless Deployment decisions and discussions
- Being the point of contact for OEM partners for all Driverless Deployment discussions
- The Driverless Launch Technical Lead has strong cross functional leadership & technical abilities including:
- Broad understanding of Autonomy Software demonstrating good understanding how the high level Autonomy Functions interact with one another and the core challenges of key Autonomy Functions (Sensing, Perception, Prediction, Planning, Controls, Mapping, Health & State Management, and more)
- Broad understanding of Hardware & Firmware - including good understanding of how the high level functions interact with one another and core challenges (Health & State Management, Vehicle Interfaces, Sensor Interfaces, Vehicle Packaging, Hardware Testing & Mission Profiles, and more)
- Good understanding of Systems & Safety spanning tailoring requirements and analyses to suit a specific use case, requirements management, Functional Safety, and more. This also includes engaging with Compliance, Legal, and other teams regarding safety reviews
- Good understanding of Test Operations, ensuring that the correct Hardware, Software, and Vehicle configurations that result in driverless deployment are under the right configuration and have been tested thoroughly. This includes ensuring that the test coverage & test execution across Autonomy, Hardware, Firmware, Vehicle Platform, and more are sufficient to enable each driverless deployment
- Ability to navigate and set technical direction in an ambiguous environment
- Ability to make decisions and trade offs based on data, engineering judgment, risk assessments, technical feasibility, business feasibility, and more
- Ability to navigate and articulate key decisions or issues to Executive leadership swiftly and promptly
- Ability to engage in technical discussions related to Software/Hardware, while also possessing the ability to lead abstract discussions related to macro ODD progression
What you'll need to succeed:
- Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics or a related field
- Expertise in architecture design and specifications for high performance robotic systems, autonomous vehicles, aerospace, or large-scale computing and data systems
- Strong communication skills and leadership abilities to work with cross-functional engineering teams and drive towards decisions
- Good at working with ambiguity and setting direction for multiple teams
- Ultra organized, able to take inputs from multiple sources, decompose and develop plans to deliver
- Ability to scale communications to executive leadership as well as day-to-day engineering and operations
- Strong technical communication skills
