Meet the team:

The Map Engineering organization consists of multiple teams responsible for delivering the tools, data pipelines, services, and infrastructure used to create high definition maps that are critical to the safe operation of our autonomous vehicles. Maps play a critical role in the success of Argo.  Today’s autonomous vehicles require a unique prior map of the world they are operating within for everything from navigation to context of the environment around them. Map Services team is a part of the map engineering and is responsible for creating the map database and managing the onboard and offboard map services.

What you’ll do: 

  • Define technical priorities, contribute to, and supervise execution of a fast paced software engineering team
  • Direct people management of the team focused on adding new capabilities to the map database and services, status of rollouts, and issue tracking
  • Scale the database and services for the next generation and prepare for the commercial success
  • Oversee interaction and deliverables with external partners
  • Work with other internal teams to help to continuously improve and refine this high profile internal product

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics or a related field
  • 2+ years experience directly managing a team
  • Prior exposure to working and planning within an Agile development environment  
  • Experience working in a production code base
  • 5+ years of hands on software development
  • Experience leading Software Engineering teams responsible for back end development, with significant exposure to Java, Python, and cloud services (AWS or GCP), Postgres / MySQL, Airflow
  • Design and implementation of scalable, performant, service oriented architecture and microservices
  • Familiarity with highly efficient database design

Nice to haves:

  • Prior experience with Mapping and Location Based Services
  • Experience with managing and troubleshooting large scale Postgres databases
