Meet the team:
The Firmware Engineering team at Argo AI is responsible for the overall development of safety-critical software and firmware in our self-driving system. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be responsible for the architecture, design, and implementation of embedded software for various sensing projects, including Argo Lidar. We’re looking for someone passionate about developing safe, efficient software for sensing systems.
What you’ll do:
- Deliver safe and efficient embedded software for state-of-the-art sensing systems.
- Design, implement, and test full-stack software running in resource-constrained environments.
- Produce highly quality, maintainable code using a variety of languages (C++, Python).
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team of hardware and software engineers to ensure the success of the sensing products used in Argo’s self-driving system.
What you'll need to succeed:
- Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics or a related field
- Significant experience developing embedded applications and systems using C/C++
- Strong software architecture, design, problem-solving and analytical skills
- Must excel in hardware/software co-design. This includes leading architectural initiatives across hardware and software teams
Nice to haves:
- Experience with modern build systems & tools (Bazel, Buildkite)
- Experience with multi-processor SoC architectures (e.g., ARM big.LITTLE, Xilinx Zynq) or similar embedded processors
- Familiarity with FPGA development and related hardware/software interfaces
- Experience developing software for highly complex, safety-critical sensing systems
