Meet the team:

Argo AI’s Motion Planning teams bring all the components of the autonomy stack together. Motion Planning takes inputs from perception, prediction, and mapping and plans how to safely yet comfortably navigate complex urban driving scenarios. Of course, this is a complicated task with a lot of software components. The Motion Planning and Control Integration team is responsible for the successful integration of the many components of the motion planning stack. Our integration engineers have to understand the whole Motion Planning stack and work with our motion planning development teams to keep everything running smoothly. They also prototype new capabilities and tweak the behavior of our vehicles.

What you’ll do: 

  • Prototype new functionality for our motion planning system
  • Spend dedicated time on-car working to understand top priority issues and dig into the root cause
  • Work with the development teams to resolve these issues
  • Support the design of long-term solutions and the integration of high-level decision making and trajectory selection algorithms
  • Rapidly root-cause and fix regressions in system performance
  • Use simulation and resimulation tools to identify regressions, validate fixes, and test new functionality
  • Develop tools to analyze logged data, improving the team’s ability to debug, diagnose, and improve the Motion Planning and Control systems
  • Improve code health by defining and adhering to software conventions and best practices for Motion Planning and Control code

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics or a related field 
  • Candidates with exceptional industry experience without a degree may be considered
  • Prior industry experience deploying robots and/or self-driving vehicles
  • Strong debugging and root-cause analysis skills
  • Strong C++ programming skills
  • Experience working on large software projects, requiring the use of version control and collaboration tools
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral

Nice to haves:

  • Experience with robotics and motion planning
  • Familiarity with Python, particularly for data analysis
  • Experience with C++ build systems, such as bazel or CMake
