Meet the team:

The Argo Lidar team at Argo AI is responsible for building, delivering, and supporting Argo’s lidar development. You will be working with a highly cross-functional team of systems, software, and hardware engineers. As an Engineering Manager, Electrical Engineering you will lead the team developing the electronics for the lidar.

What you’ll do: 

  • Manage a team working in domains including electrical requirements definition, architecture design, simulation, schematic design, layout design, verification testing, validation testing, and manufacturing
  • Responsible for ensuring the personnel and program success of Argo’s Lidar electrical engineering
  • Establish best practices for the electrical engineering team and the engineering organization as a whole
  • Work with executives and engineering leadership to report information and drive key cross-cutting engineering decisions
  • Engage with internal and external engineering teams to bring together the big-picture technical plan through a systems engineering approach
  • Responsible for personnel management tasks including hiring, goal planning, progress tracking, mentoring, reviewing employee performance, team status reporting, and prioritizing resources
  • Lead the execution for a collection of engineering activities
  • Work with Contract Manufacturing partner for scaling lidar manufacturing

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or a related field
  • 6+ years experience in electrical engineering
  • Proven experience leading an engineering team in a fast paced environment
  • Experience providing leadership to drive system and component level engineering decisions
  • Strong experience writing concise, clear, and detailed engineering documentation
  • Understanding of team dynamics and ability to maintain motivation and focus of engineering staff in a fast-paced, complex development program
  • A record of owning projects successfully and successfully bringing a product to mass production
  • Experience in managing programs for both quick iteration prototyping and for high volume automated manufacturing
  • Prefer candidates with experience developing highly complex hardware systems in robotics, transportation, aerospace, consumer electronics, defense, medical, energy, or similar industries

Nice to haves:

  • Experience working with cross functional teams to develop complex electro optical systems
  • Experience with functional safety
  • Experience with FPGA based hardware design
