This position reports to the headquarters IT Operations Manager and will work with leadership in our IT ArchEng, IT Operations, and Cybersecurity teams.

Partnering with the business, this role is responsible for the day-to-day activities and operational excellence of the IT Operations Team at our growing Palo Alto office, driving on-time, on-quality, and ensuring security, functionality, connectivity, compatibility, scalability, and best practices are at the forefront of any decision and design.

What you’ll do: 

  • Lead/Mentor local IT staff
  • Support our diverse user community via service desk tickets, walk up, email, and chat
  • Ensure that all requests from users are logged and escalation procedures are followed
  • Manage user accounts, including onboarding and offboarding
  • Identify, investigate, and research user questions and problems as well as isolate, resolve, or escalate information systems problems
  • Install and configure hardware and software (including operating systems and applications software) for Mac, Windows, and Linux systems
  • Develop technical guidelines and document processes for desktop support services
  • Coordinate special projects and system upgrades
  • Brief users and/or management on the status of the resolution efforts
  • Take ownership of production related incidents including communications, escalations and follow-up for root cause analysis
  • Work closely with other members of the department on corporate initiatives
  • Ensure that work is carried out within agreed service levels and in accordance with department guidelinesThis position involves project and operations planning, coordination and execution across multiple, fast-paced IT/Business teams
  • Business/IT alignment will be an imperative to foster/grow strategic partnerships throughout the organization
  • Will mature/create applicable IT policies
  • Prepare, update, maintain and test Disaster Recovery Plans and general system documentation
  • Oversee the evaluation and administration of IT audits and compliance

What we’re looking for:

  • Applicant must be highly motivated and self-directed with necessary skills that include the ability to work under tight deadlines, ability to handle multiple tasks through prioritization and time management, heavily customer service oriented, sound and accurate judgment, analytical and problem solving skills, excellent planning and organizing skills, comfortability in challenging group-think and ability to communicate complex technical terms and concepts in a way that customers and colleagues will easily understand 
  • Strong experience in working effectively and directly with all levels of an organization, including executives and non-technical audiences
  • BS in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent degree or experience
    • Can be overlooked through demonstrated, consistent operations/program/project delivery
  • Experience leading technical teams
  • Occasional domestic and international travel will be necessary
  • Professional Linux Experience
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • 3+ years of lead IT support experience
  • 5+ years of IT desktop support experience for Linux, macOS, and Windows
  • Experience with endpoint management using Jamf and other tools
  • Strong familiarity with G Suite, Zoom, Slack and other collaboration platforms
  • Experience with automated desktop deployments using modern configuration management systems
  • Basic understanding of wired and wireless networking, general networking troubleshooting, and network tools
  • Extensive knowledge of computer hardware
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate and coordinate across geographically distributed teams  
  • Proven resourcefulness, creativity, and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience working in a fast-paced lead support role
  • Desirable experience: 
    • Atlassian (Jira, Confluence), Jamf, Okta, Zoom, and Splunk
    • Exposure and understanding of development tools is a plus, including Github, Docker, Travis, Jenkins
    • Experience Project Management is a plus
    • PMP, ITIL Certifications are a plus
