The Position

Arevon is recruiting for a Manager, State & Local Tax position, seeking a team member that is highly motivated and organized, results and process oriented, and communicates effectively. The Tax Manager will work with existing team to support all functions across Arevon. Those responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Indirect Tax

  • Prepare or review indirect tax assumptions for our development pipeline and M&A opportunities
  • Research and secure state level incentives such as Payment in Lieu of Tax (PILOTs) agreements, Industrial Revenue Bonds (IRBs), High Impact Business (HIBs) or, Economic Enterprise Zones (EEZs), or similar arrangements
  • Review and prepare annual property tax renditions
  • Manage sales tax compliance for procurement companies and operating projects.

Income Tax

  • Prepare or review state and local direct assumptions for development pipeline and M&A opportunities
  • Review of all state income tax returns for apportionment, state modifications, state credits, nexus, method of filings, and other relevant SALT concepts
  • Oversight on information flow between Arevon functions and 3rd party providers
  • Prepare/Review estimated state tax payment calculations
  • Review of year-end state tax provision calculation and Income Taxes footnote, as required
  • Manage state and local tax audits, including responding to information requests, negotiating settlements, and coordinating with external advisors

Other

  • Work across functions to optimize internal structure for state, and local taxes and incentives
  • Keep corporate tax planning model up to date on changes in law and business strategy
  • Work with trade and policy groups on evolving SALT issues.

Education Requirements

  • Minimum BS/BA in Accountancy, other fields accepted if J.D.
  • CPA license/JD is desired

Experience Requirements

  • 5 to 10 years of relevant experience, strong experience in Subchapter K preferred
  • Experience in renewable energy is highly desired
  • Proven track record of working well within a team environment, while taking ownership of processes and procedures.
  • Proficient on MS Word, Excel, CCH Axcess, Power Point, etc.
