The Position 

Arevon is recruiting for the position of Development Engineering Associate an outstanding opportunity for individuals seeking an exciting, high-growth work environment in one of the most important industries for the 21st century.  

Job Description 

This critical hire will be a part of the Arevon Engineering team and will report to the Senior Development Engineer. The Development Engineering Associate will be responsible for advancing site engineering and design from early-stage development through the contracting process to ensure high quality, optimized solar and BESS plants. The role will be required to collaborate with internal teams and external consultants to confirm all projects are optimized for performance, cost, and reliability. 

The Development Engineering Associate will be responsible for providing technical oversite for PV and BESS hybrid projectsThe responsibilities include developing preliminary designs, performing site feasibility and risk analysis, coordinating early-stage engineering deliverables, and communicating with counterparties and internal stakeholders. The role requires detailed analysis and interpretation of civil, structural, and electrical Prudent Industry Practices. The role will be part of the Engineering team and will report directly to the Senior Development Engineer. The responsibilities of a Development Engineering Associate include but are not limited to: 

  • Technical lead and primary design and engineering point of contact for the origination & development teams supporting new PV + BESS hybrid utility scale solar bidding opportunities.
  • Issue civil, structural, and electrical scope for use in Request for Proposal (RFP) package submittals.   
  • Manage all resources internally or externally as necessary to prepare preliminary designs, performance estimates, cost estimates, schedules, and risks to be incorporated into binding and non-binding proposals. 
  • Assess and thoroughly communicate and quantify preliminary site constraints, cost adders, and schedule risks. 
  • Work with consultants and internal SME’s to generate and optimize site designs. 
  • Manage and communicate key acquisition diligence requirements and cost adders.  
  • Attend and/or manage personnel who will attend site walks to gather preliminary site assessment information to be used in the early-stage design and scoping documentation. 
  • Able to produce layouts and indicative IRR analysis based on Arevon’s standard process. 

Experience Requirements 

  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience as an engineer working with solar, BESS, or another related industry required.   
  • Engineer in Training certification and working towards Professional Engineering Registration (PE) preferred. 
  • Multi-project portfolio risk due diligence, preferred. 
  • Understanding of project design and optimization tradeoffs and familiarity with current market, equipment suppliers, contractors, typical technical specifications, and costs. 
  • Experience and understanding of PV + BESS project design, optimization, suppliers, specifications, and costs; including contracting approaches. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, highly motivated and results oriented, process oriented with strong organizational and communication skills.  
  • Knowledge of engineering and renewable energy systems; solar PV systems including SCADA and monitoring systems, and BESS. 
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Office, MS Windows, and project controls.  
  • Experience with ArcGIS and/or AutoCAD preferred.  

Education Requirements 

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, required.
