As Surfacing Technical Artist, a material must be believable regardless of artistic direction. You will contribute to the development of surfacing tools, processes and pipelines. Working closely with Artists, you help advance their visual style and improve material creation.
3+ years of experience as a Surfacing Artist
Proficiency with 2D and 3D DCC software
Experience with physically based rendering tools and philosophy
Solid understanding of lighting fundamentals
Experience authoring PBR shaders using graph based node editors
Experience authoring PRB textures (Substance Painter and Substance Designer preferred)
Mature understanding of Python, C#, HLSL or equivalent
Self-driven team player that thrives in ambiguity
Think creatively to solve technical challenges and limitations
Good communication, organization and time management
Create physically plausible shaders and materials for a wide variety of asset types
Collaborate with other Technical Artists to ensure consistent technology and content
Collaborate with content creators to improve their efficiency
Collaborate with engine and project teams to build features and solve problems
Help develop and enforce surfacing processes and technical guidelines through documentation and communication
Advance surfacing quality through pursuit and development of improved content creation methods
Support artists and communicate their technical needs
Troubleshoot shaders, surfacing tools and pipelines
