Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:
- Empower a team of R&D tax managers and/or individual contributors
- Lead strategic direction of an R&D tax team by leveraging your extensive knowledge of the industry, and implementing systems to ensure operational excellence and in turn exceptional customer outcomes.
- Develop and sustain excellent client relationships during delivery of R&D tax credit services
- Demonstrate sound judgment and instincts with respect to evaluating complex scenarios
- Engage in an active role in new business development, including add-on business, and partnering with cross-functional teams
- Understand customers’ industry and business to identify key performance drivers, business trends, and industry developments as it relates to R&D
- Develop and sustain excellent client relationships during delivery of R&D tax credit services
- Draft opinion letters, responses to IRS inquiries, IRS ruling requests and writing other technical memoranda
Here’s what we're looking for:
- 2-3+ years experience leading teams and/or leading managers in R&D tax, tax, or related industry
- 5+ years recent experience conducting and managing R&D tax credit consulting projects in a large accounting firm, corporation or law firm
- Technical skills and experience with research and development deduction and credit Internal Revenue Code sections (including, but not limited to, sections 174 & 41), corresponding regulations and relevant judicial and administrative authority
- Proven leadership skills demonstrating strong judgment, problem solving and decision making abilities
- Experience managing multiple client engagements and client service teams
- Communicate effectively about the final result of the R&D tax credit and tax impact accordingly and discuss the potential tax impact by specific items/situations.
Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $131,000 - $162,000 in Denver & most remote locations, and $154,000 - $172,000 for San Francisco. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.
