Ardent is seeking a Junior Accountant to join our team.
This is a Hybrid/Remote position in the Vienna, VA area.
Position Description:
Ardent is hiring an energetic and driven Junior Accountant to join our team. This role is ideal for a motivated individual ranging from a recent college graduate to those with a few years of accounting experience, preferably with exposure to federal government contracting. The Junior Accountant will play a key role in supporting accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal regulations, and contributing to financial reporting and analysis. This position reports to the organization's financial controller.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and federal government contracting requirements.
- Perform routine accounting tasks such as journal entries, account reconciliations, and ledger maintenance.
- Support the accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate billing and payment processing.
- Participate in the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, including assisting with audits and budget preparation.
- Help maintain internal financial controls and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
- Stay informed of updates and changes in accounting standards, federal regulations, and industry best practices.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
- 0-2 years of accounting experience, with preference given to candidates having experience in federal government contracting.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and preferred familiarity with federal financial regulations and standards.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and training, experience, or understanding of general accounting software.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with a strong ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- A proactive team player with a willingness to learn and grow within the organization.
