Ardent is seeking a Cloud Engineer to join our team.  

This is an onsite position located in Tysons, VA. Remote work is subject to the discretion/needs of the customer.

Ardent is seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer to support our government customer, focusing on DevOpsSec pipeline development, performance monitoring, and cloud resource management. This role will be responsible for migrating government applications between cloud environments and ensuring seamless data processing with external partners such as CBP and DoS. The Cloud Engineer will design and deploy CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure as code (IaC), set up and maintain development, test, UAT, and staging environments, and optimize cloud solutions to support the program's objectives.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Develop and maintain DevOpsSec pipelines to support continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) for government applications. Monitor and optimize cloud performance, resource usage, and billing to ensure cost-effective operation.
  • Manage the migration of government applications and services between AWS environments, including to FedRAMP-approved GovCloud. Collaborate with external partners such as CBP and DoS to improve connectivity and data processing solutions.
  • Design and maintain development, test, UAT, and staging environments.
  • Deploy infrastructure as code (IaC) using automation tools for seamless provisioning and scaling of resources.
  • Provide solutions for cloud-based hosting, backup, and disaster recovery, ensuring high availability and failover capabilities. Implement technical solutions compliant with FISMA and NIST security standards.
  • Design logical and network diagrams for improved system design and implementation.
  • Utilize Application Performance Monitoring (APM) tools such as DataDog, AppDynamics, or NewRelic to track and improve system performance.

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of relevant experience in an Enterprise IT environment OR 10+ years of relevant experience without a Bachelor’s degree.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Professional.
  • Experience with designing and implementing AWS cloud solutions.
  • Proficiency in developing CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (IaC).
  • Strong background in performance monitoring, resource optimization, and cloud billing management.
  • Experience with DevOpsSec tools, including JIRA, automated testing, blue-green deployments, and branching strategies.
  • Proficient in Application Performance Monitoring (APM) tools, such as DataDog, AppDynamics, or NewRelic.

Preferred Requirements: 

  • Experience in developing web services and APIs using open standards like XML, SOAP, and WSDL.
  • Experience applying The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) in Agile environments to minimize technical debt.
  • Experience with network communication protocols, routing, proxy settings, and firewall policies.
  • Familiarity with microservices/container architectures (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift), and automation tools.
  • Experience with cloud-based hosting, backup, and recovery solutions, including failover zones.
  • Experience with database management and administration (MongoDB, Oracle).
