Overview:
The Application Security Architect role is responsible for creating and evolving an internal application security practice dedicated to reducing application security risks for our developed solutions.
You will work closely with our Research & Development organization to collaborate in implementing practices designed to improve the resilience of software against threats. This will include the definition of a formal application security program, and a roadmap for measured improvements over time.
The role will act as a subject matter expert in software security and ensure that activities such as threat modelling, design review and coding are inclusive of relevant security considerations.
This role reports to the Security Architecture Lead and is part of our team dedicated to the security of Arctic Wolf itself. You will work closely with other pack members in Information Security, Research & Development, and Information Technology.
Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain an application security program consisting of a maturity-based roadmap, application security specific activities, metrics and reporting.
- Work with application architecture and development teams to design and integrate application security practices into existing processes.
- Ensure that threat modelling and adversarial thinking are incorporated into development lifecycles.
- Mentor and guide developers and architects, with an aim for the growth and maintenance of application security skills across Arctic Wolf.
- Contribute to a world-class security program that supports Arctic Wolf’s tremendous growth.
Required Skills and Experience:
- 2+ years of experience designing and implementing application security programs.
- Strong background in software development and software development methodologies such as Agile.
- Strong ability to understand and explain common application security issues at a code level to developers.
- Good experience in two or more of the following: Python, Go, JavaScript, Java/C#, C/C++.
- Good experience in dealing with software assurance frameworks like OWASP SAMM, BSIMM, etc.
- Good experience with SAST and DAST especially in API-first architectures.
- Exposure to IAST and RASP considered beneficial.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related technical field; or equivalent experience.

- Conducts duties and responsibilities in accordance with AWN’s Information Security policies, standards, processes and controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of AWN business information.
