Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers for 60 miles at speeds of up to 150 mph while producing minimal noise.

What You’ll Do
- Lead electrical and software integration of Archer’s Battery Management System (BMS), an integral part of the energy storage system (ESS) powering Archer’s FAA type certified eVTOL airtaxi
- Bring-up battery systems from prototype bucks to mass production
- Test and troubleshoot electrical and software interfaces, providing direct feedback to part owners
- Work with the ESS team to ensure functional and performance requirements are met
- Work with Avionics, GNC, and Software teams to ensure interface requirements are met
- Specify test milestones and create test plans to support integration of the ESS into the aircraft
- Specify test resources and equipment necessary to perform internal testing
What You Need
- BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in a related field
- Demonstrated experience in developing product from start to finish
- Knowledge of high voltage circuit protection, insulation standards, and safety regulations
- Experience with industry standard communication protocols (RS-422/485, CAN, Ethernet, SPI)
- Experience with both digital and analog signals
- Familiarity with CPLD, FPGA, and microcontroller operation
- Knowledge of lithium-ion batteries, DC fast chargers, electric motors, and DCDC converters
- Able to troubleshoot circuit diagrams, hardware, and software and propose solutions to root cause issues
- Able to use variety of mechanical (crimping, soldering, connector systems) and electrical (DMM, hipot, isolation tester, network analyzer) tools
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience with high voltage battery systems
- Experience with new product development in regulated industries (e.g., aviation, medical devices)
- Knowledge of FAA aircraft certification requirements for Part 23 aircraft
- Experience with DO-160, DO-178C, and DO-254 standards
- Experience with ARP4754 development process
- Experience with ISO 26262, ISO 15118, SAE J1772 standards

We drive a pay-for-performance culture and reward performance that supports the Company’s business strategy. For this position we are targeting a base pay between $148,000 - $185,000. Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
