Archer is an aerospace company based in Palo Alto, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers for 60 miles at speeds of up to 150 mph while producing minimal noise.

What You’ll Do
Develop software for Archer’s fault tolerant battery management system
Design the BMS software architecture necessary for safe and efficient flight
Architect the avionics software interfaces for the BMS
Work across cell modelling, systems engineering, and certification teams to develop energy, power, and health algorithms
Work in parallel with electrical engineering, aircraft integration, and software test teams to implement, validate, and debug complex systems and provide elegant solutions
What You Need
BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with high proficiency in programming
5+ years of experience in a related field
Ability to code in C and C++
Experience developing software complying with safety standards like DO-178C or ISO 26262
Deep knowledge of Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS) and multi-threading
Deep understanding of communication standards and protocols (RS-422/485, CAN, Ethernet, TCP/IP, etc…)
Familiarity with lithium-ion battery electrical, chemical, and thermal characteristics
Experience with battery algorithm design
Experience with high voltage system designs
Familiarity with debuggers and lab instruments such oscilloscopes and bus analyzers
Linux as your favorite development environment
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Experience with VHDL and/or Verilog development
Familiarity with modeling tools like UML or SysML
