Archer is an aerospace company based in Palo Alto, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers for 60 miles at speeds of up to 150 mph while producing minimal noise.

As the leader of our Systems Engineering team you will report to the Head of Safety and Systems Engineering, and will help build, develop, and manage the team responsible for defining and executing the requirements management and multi-disciplinary integration of our first certified aircraft. You will have Systems Engineering process ownership and technical influence over all areas of vehicle development.
What you’ll do
Manage and develop our Systems Engineering team members
Plan and schedule Systems Engineering activities throughout the development, including dependencies and interfaces with all other engineering organizations
Participate in top-level Systems Engineering process and tool definition and implementation
Participate in vehicle-level requirements development and management
Participate in multi-disciplinary decision making and regulatory compliance activities
What we are looking for
Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication
Passion for learning and problem solving
Degree in engineering or related field
Experience leading teams of highly technical people in complex product development
Experience with all phases of aircraft development from concept to entry into service
Experience working under the formal Systems Engineering process and standards commonly used in civil transport aircraft development
Experience using Polarion, DOORS or a similar requirements management tool
Experience being personally accountable for one or more Systems Engineering activities on a civil aircraft certification program
Archer is headquartered in Palo Alto, California. On-site work is required for leadership positions due to the benefit of in-person interaction for complex problem solving and collaboration, however, remote work from any location in the U.S. with occasional company-sponsored business travel to headquarters is possible during an initial transition period.
