Archer is an aerospace company based in Palo Alto, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers for 60 miles at speeds of up to 150 mph while producing minimal noise.

What you’ll do:

  • Collaborate with various engineering disciplines to design high-reliability, safety-critical systems for an electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft
  • Lead a diverse Systems Engineering, System Safety and Value Engineering team responsible for:
    • Defining, authoring and decomposing system requirements with traceability to higher and lower level requirements
    • Developing and maintaining the program technical scorecard (i.e. cost, weight, performance objectives)
    • Full system safety compliance to the appropriate regulations and special conditions
  • Work with various technical disciplines to author and execute verification plans to demonstrate compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Interface with the Head of Certification, regulators and DERs on the development, review and refinement of certification substantiation artifacts
  • Work closely with the Chief Engineer to ensure the product meets desired business and certification requirements
  • Develop, standardize, and introduce company systems engineering tools and processes

What you need:

  • 10+ years of aerospace systems engineering experience
  • 5+ years developing and leading teams
  • MS, or PhD in engineering
  • Extensive expertise in SAE ARP4754A/4761 processes
  • Strong background with Polarion or a similar requirements management tool
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience working on type certification of an aircraft from start to finish under 14 CFR Part 23/27 or equivalent regulations

Bonus qualifications: 

  • Prior experience on certification projects with significant software and complex hardware elements
  • Background in RTCA DO-160, DO-178C and DO-254
  • Experience in MBSE (Model Based Systems Engineering) tools/analysis
