Who we are: 

Archer is an aerospace company based in Palo Alto, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers for 60 miles at speeds of up to 150 mph while producing minimal noise.

What you’ll do: 

  • Own the engineering stack for a simulation tool that will influence critical decisions to build out a service enabling Urban Air Mobility (UAM)
  • Promote best practices for developing automated build, test, and deployment infrastructure
  • Determine the most appropriate set of tools and frameworks to scale an application utilizing large-scale analytical models
  • Promote best agile practices for a multidisciplinary team of software engineers and data scientists. Coach non-engineers to adopt the best engineering practices
  • Build a front end system to allow users to interact and inspect output with visualization capability
  • Work with engineers from other teams on ad hoc projects to support developments that are critical to internal milestones

What you need: 

  • BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Expertise in at least one backend language such as C/C++, Java, Python, or Go
  • Experience with standard web technologies such as JavaScript, CSS, and HTML
  • Experience with database management systems
  • Experience collaborating with data scientists to ship complex analytical models in a production environment
  • Familiarity with cloud computing services, ideally with AWS
  • A passion for urban mobility, sustainable transportation, and the future of cities

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Experience collaborating with data scientists to ship complex analytical models in a production environment
  • Knowledge of optimization algorithms and mathematical programming solvers
  • Previous experience working with transportation systems, ideally within aviation
