Who we are: 

Archer is an aerospace company building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft focused on improving mobility in cities. The company's mission is to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. Archer is designing, manufacturing, and operating a fully electric aircraft that can carry four passengers for 60 miles at speeds of up to 150mph while producing minimal noise. Archer's team is based in the San Francisco Bay Area.

What you’ll do:

  • Build aerodynamic loads database to be used by Structural design team
  • Develop test plans and collaborate with Hardware team to gather experimental data to validate loads and correlate to models
  • Develop flutter and whirl flutter analysis using both simplified low-fidelity methods and higher-fidelity aeroelastic software packages
  • Contribute to the development of Archer MDO vehicle sizing and analysis tool

What you need:

  • 5+ years of development experience with BS/MS OR 0-2 years of experience with PhD 
  • BS / MS / PhD in Aerospace Engineering or related field
  • Strong understanding of fix-wing and rotorcraft aerodynamics
  • Strong understanding of aircraft dynamics and performance
  • Experience with static and dynamic loads derivation for aircraft
  • Experience with XFoil, AVL, ASWing and other tools for aero-structural analysis
  • Experience with NASTRAN or other aeroelastic packages
  • Experience coding in Python 3 and Matlab
  • Strong technical, written, and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work in groups and individually

Bonus Qualifications: 

  • Familiarity with aircraft and rotorcraft certification standards (FAR 23, 25 and 27)
  • Experience in developing loads for eVTOL vehicles and tilting mechanisms
  • Experience running whirl flutter analysis of tilt rotor systems
  • Experience with rotor dynamics and vibratory loads
  • Familiarity with panel methods and CFD tools
