Aquatic is a quantitative trading and investment company recently launched by Jon Graham. Prior to founding Aquatic, Jon was a Partner and Senior Managing Director at Citadel, where he worked for more than 13 years. At Citadel, Jon held numerous senior positions over the years, including head of Statistical Arbitrage and Equity High Frequency, culminating in founding and leading the highly successful Global Quantitative Strategies business.
Uncluttered by legacy platforms and processes, Aquatic will develop short- and medium-term systematic investment strategies, enabled by a leading-edge research and development platform. The vision is simple: to build a world class, quantitative investment manager with a collaborative team of highly capable researchers and engineers.
This role represents a unique opportunity to join a distinguished and hugely successful quantitative investment manager at the foundational level of building a world class operation from scratch. The firm’s culture will be shaped by collaboration, meritocracy, ambition, and calm determination.
Do you hate manual steps? Want to make everything fast, automatic, and repeatable? Aquatic needs your help. We're looking for an automation engineer with a diverse set of skills who can help us with the following:
Automating packaging and continuous deployment tasks with grace and valor
Ensuring our builds run quickly and reliably
Installing and configuring open source tools for process automation and monitoring
Building command line tools to eliminate repetitive tasks and yak shaving
You'll work with a mix of software engineers, infrastructure experts, and quantitative analysts to "demanualize" our systems and generally make things better. To do this, you'll need a few skills, including:
A solid understanding of Linux concepts and tools, and a working knowledge of Docker.
Experience with native (C++) build systems. Bonus points for Bazel and Make.
The ability to write well tested code, or a quick Bash one-liner, and the wisdom to know which to use.
A basic understanding of networking at various OSI layers (ex: IP/UDP+TCP/HTTP)
You don't need to have all of these skills already, but the more you know the less we'll have to teach you. Also, we're a financial company, but you don't need experience in finance to work here. What do you need is a desire to always leave things better than you found them, tackle new and interesting problems, and boldly go where nobody has gone before.
