Salary: $120,000 - $150,000
The Accounting Manager will oversee the day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting for a dynamic and growing tech SaaS start-up. This position is critical to ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of financial processes while supporting the company’s strategic goals. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in SaaS accounting, strong organizational skills, and a hands-on approach to building and improving accounting systems in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations:
- Manage daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closings.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Provide actionable insights based on financial reporting to support strategic decisions.
- Monitor cash flow, reconciliations, and expense allocations to maintain financial health and compliance.
- Oversee accounting software tools and processes, ensuring alignment with company needs.
Audit & Compliance:
- Lead internal and external audit processes, ensuring preparedness and successful execution.
- Collaborate with auditors to provide required documentation and address audit inquiries.
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP and applicable tax regulations.
- Develop and implement internal controls to mitigate risks and safeguard company assets.
- Stay updated on changes in accounting and auditing standards, ensuring compliance with evolving regulations.
Process Improvement & System Management:
- Optimize and document accounting processes for scalability.
- Support automation efforts for financial reporting and reconciliations.
- Partner with finance leadership to implement scalable solutions for forecasting and budgeting.
- Collaborate with outsourced accounting providers or consultants as needed.
Collaboration & Strategic Contribution:
- Work closely with the Director of Finance and cross-functional teams to align accounting operations with overall company goals.
- Contribute to strategic financial planning by providing insights from accounting data.
- Support ad hoc projects related to financial systems, compliance, or operational enhancements.
Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
- Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles in a SaaS or tech start-up environment.
- Proficiency with accounting systems such as Sage, Ramp, Tabs, Numeric, Anrok, Carta, and related SaaS platforms.
- Strong understanding of SaaS revenue recognition, deferred revenue, and subscription billing.
- Proven experience in building and improving accounting systems and workflows in high-growth settings.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, with additional international accounting experience being a plus.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
