Job Purpose and Overview:

Appfire is looking for a Technical Writer. In this critical role, you will be responsible for researching, authoring, curating, updating, and testing technical documentation and content for one or more Appfire products in a collaborative team setting.

What You Will Do

  • Produce quality, relevant documentation, including conceptual overviews, user/administrative guides, use cases, recipes, best practices, APIs, reference material, instructional videos, and release notes.
  • Produce, Review, and Publish HOW-TO and Troubleshooting articles for several Appfire Product Knowledge Bases.
  • Create content for business users, casual users, administrators, developers, and external Appfire customers.
  • Collaborate effectively with teams across the company, such as Support & Sustaining Teams, Product Management Teams, Release Management Teams, Developers, QA, Professional Services and Sales Engineering. Translate verbal and written technical requirements from these stakeholders into documentation.
  • Assist engineers, UX designers, and others in drafting user-facing content.
  • Work effectively with colleagues around the globe across multiple business units and departments.
  • Produce output in multiple formats, Web Content, PDFs, Word Documents, and HTML.
  • Independently and efficiently acquire deep, comprehensive expertise in specified areas of the product and an excellent working knowledge of the entire product line.
  • Test the procedures that are being documented.
  • Learn and follow department procedures for writing, editing, and publishing documentation.
  • Participate in the Team's Daily Stand-up meetings and Agile Ceremonies.

What We Would Like to See

  • 8+ years’ experience managing software documentation.
  • 4+ years’ experience writing software documentation in an Agile environment.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Technical Writing or a Technical Degree (B.E/B.Tech/M.C.A) with a strong inclination towards technical writing.
  • Strong commitment to Technical Writing as a career, with experience in professional organizations.
  • Knowledge and experience with industry-standard tools for content creation, management, and publishing, including XML editors, content management systems, and video production tools.
  • Experience with Confluence and its administrative activities (such as reports, macros, and content publishing).
  • Familiarity with the concepts and practice of structured writing, single-sourcing, and minimalist writing.
  • Impeccable written and verbal skills in English.
  • Experience documenting APIs, SDKs, and other development-driven sources. Sound investigative skills, with the ability to understand the audience's needs and provide the information most important to them.
  • Experience documenting APIs and SaaS products.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Pragmatic and bring a relaxed, enthusiastic attitude while dealing with ambiguity in any discipline.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance in a fast-paced environment. Excellent time management, prioritization, collaboration, and organizational skills, particularly the ability to effectively manage multiple projects to multiple deadlines simultaneously.
  • Creativity, initiative, and acute attention to detail.
  • Ability to prepare and conduct interviews (to ask questions and learn from the answers provided by Technical Subject Matter Experts).
  • Experience working with the Atlassian product suite (JIRA, Confluence).
  • Familiarity with the Agile Process.
