Job Purpose and Overview

Appfire is looking for an experienced and strategic Vice President, Total Rewards who will manage a global team of compensation professionals and orchestrate the design, program management and implementation of all areas of global compensation and benefits including executive compensation. This role will partner closely with senior business leaders, hiring managers, and HR Business Partners to translate business strategy into meaningful Total Rewards strategies that continue to attract, hire, retain, and motivate top talent while maintaining a competitive and dynamic approach to performance and rewards. You will report to the Chief People Officer and be a key member of the People leadership team, collaborating to develop a talent strategy that helps drive the company’s success.

As a functional expert in global total rewards strategies, you will be responsible for broad-based and executive compensation, short and long-term incentives, compensation reviews, health, welfare, and other benefits. You will use a proactive and strategic approach to ensure that rewards are competitive, drive results, are aligned with company culture and are understood and valued by employees.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and execute a competitive and comprehensive Global Total Rewards strategy designed to attract and retain world-class talent in a competitive environment and ever-changing economic landscape.
  • Leverage knowledge of market conditions and competitive talent landscape to design tailored strategies for compensation for key talent segments. Direct job analysis, evaluation, market pricing and salary survey initiatives in an open and transparent fashion.
  • Oversee and govern short-term and long-term incentive and benefit programs (cash and non-cash) to support our culture and overall engagement. Continuously evaluate and optimize benefit offerings.
  • Serve as an internal functional expert to our Compensation Committee, owning and driving our agenda relevant to key focus areas.
  • Partner closely with HR Business Partners in the development of key frameworks including – promotion guidelines, career ladders, and leveling criteria/frameworks.
  • Effectively manage compensation programs in a geographically dispersed and remote workforce. Proactively predict markets and differing compensation strategies in various geographies.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations both in the U.S. and internationally, collaborating with internal groups.
  • Partner with outside experts, including consultants, for matters such as benchmarking, plan design, coverage, renewals and communications.
  • Develop comprehensive and integrated communication strategies that drive awareness, adoption, and understanding of our programs.
  • Serve as a functional business owner for Total Rewards, guiding all prioritization decisions related to our systems and technology implementations and enhancements.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to ensure our materials/collateral used for purposes of recruiting are competitive and drive our employee value proposition.
  • Oversee the preparation of the annual benefits budget and periodic forecasts.
  • Drive thought leadership to address current and emerging compensation and benefits trends and issues. Bring the outside-in view, guiding our decision-making process.
  • Lead the Total Rewards team, ensuring the ongoing development of direct reports. Provide constructive and timely performance feedback.
  • Serve as an integral member of the People leadership team to advise on programs impacting the organization as a whole and collaborate with HR business partners to understand and address the unique needs of various functions.

What We Would Like to See 

  • 10+ years of professional total rewards experience, including a strong executive presence, experience in total rewards strategy, executive compensation, and benefits design, and managing capability across compensation change cycles.
  • Knowledge of government regulations as they apply to benefit programs, compensation programs, company policies, and operations.
  • Experience designing global compensation and benefits programs, guidelines and processes and guiding strategies preferably in North America, EMEA, and India.
  • Deep understanding of equity and executive compensation programs.
  • Expertise and knowledge of key external industry frameworks and approaches, e.g., Aon/Radford, Mercer, Willis Towers Watson, World at Work models.
  • Excellent acumen for assessing total rewards initiatives utilizing data analytics and metrics to make informed decisions, and measure results.
  • Supported the creation of materials for the Board of Directors Compensation Committee.
  • Exceptional coaching, mentoring, and people development skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Workday-specific experience preferred.
