We are looking for a Quality Engineering Manager with experience in software quality in a high-growth company. You will be a player/coach with a primary focus on driving our quality and automation/technical initiatives. You will design/track the high business impact quality Metrics and processes to continuously improve product quality for stability, functionality, and performance. You must have hands-on experience managing critical issues, assessing problems and providing thoughtful solutions while keeping a calm demeanor. He/She will be a point of contact for Quality Engineering at Apollo.io worldwide and must therefore be comfortable and confident liaising with remote teams and senior leaders. You will be guiding a high-performing QA team as part of your responsibilities.

Job Responsibilities:

As the Quality Engineering Manager, you will:

  • Work in partnership with the Sr Quality Engineering Manager to own, develop, implement and maintain comprehensive quality assurance policies within QE/SDET Org and procedures to ensure the quality and reliability of product
  • Manage testing activities by assigning resources and supervising the execution of test activities
  • Partner with engineering squads to address the defects and guarantee the delivery of top-notch products
  • Create/Update Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for quality engineering and present them to relevant parties - Take corrective measures if any discrepancies are identified
  • Collaborate with the Engineering team - The goal is to automate required functional/non-functional/infrastructure features and requires close collaboration between the Quality Engineering and Development teams to achieve this in every project release
  • Continuously improve the quality of production systems, participate and drive the RCA (Root Cause Analysis) process/Quality engineering metrics for production issues and guide engineering team to update quality process accordingly and strategy to improve Quality Engineering KPI’s

Job Skills & Experience:

  • 12+ years of experience with 8 years of experience in Quality Engineering with at least 3+ years in a managerial role
  • Experience in concurrently managing high volume or high risk/complex Quality Engineering projects execution
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide regular updates to stakeholders and leadership
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to maintain comprehensive documentation
  • Proven ability to drive testing strategy for SaaS companies
  • Report and drive increased test automation coverage in all areas
  • Communicate and coordinate with Development team, Business Analysts, Project Managers, and external stakeholders
  • Excellent understanding of automation testing and frameworks (such as Cypress/Playwright) for functional, Non-functional and at infrastructure level 
  • Working knowledge of development languages (Ruby, Typescript, Javascript)
  • Experiences in web services, batch/extract file processing, microservice api level testing
  • Expert knowledge of software testing, quality improvement, quality process, quality assurance methodologies, and best practices.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related qualifications
  • Solid experience in Agile testing methodologies and best practices.
  • Modern Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment technologies and techniques.
  • Synthetic Monitoring and Metrics gathering with tools like NewRelic, GCP Logging, Datadog
  • Familiarity with Linux Containers and Virtualisation (Docker)
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, Github actions.
  • Mentor and guide Quality Engineering team to manage quality and improve process efficiency

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and technical reasoning.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering teams.
  • Performance benchmarking and capacity planning
  • Excellent in defining/tracking Quality Engineering KPI’s and metrics in automated fashion and keep management up to date about same
  • Strong interest in learning new and emerging technologies
  • Knowledge of microservices architecture
  • Knowledge of the challenges faced by software engineers in a modern engineering department.

  • Quality Engineering metrics: Have strong understanding of what the most important data quality metrics are and lead the Quality Engineering team to achieve big impact for improvement by working with Engineering Managers and through multiple agile iterations
  • Lead tech roadmap execution: Work with QE & SDET teams to setup technical roadmap and execute with the team
  • Strong team productivity: Demonstrate team productivity/velocity for fast iteration to impact core metrics
  • High quality implementations: hold the team accountable to deliver high quality implementations and promote engineering excellence within the team
  • Communication & collaboration: collaborate across functions to align on OKRs, squad deliverables, and drive smooth execution
  • Scalable and reliable systems: lead the team to develop systems that are highly available and scalable with operation excellence in place
  • Formulate, Implement, Track career path & individual development plans of each team member
  • Mentor and guide Quality Engineering team to manage quality and improve process efficiency
