Job Description

At Aperia, we rely on a dynamic team who embody the Aperia core values: honesty, transparency, and teamwork. We’re seeking a Director of Architecture to the technical strategy of the organization. You will collaborate with the CTO, senior management, and other stakeholders to develop and implement technical solutions that align with the business goals of the organization. Additionally, you will manage the day-to-day allocation of resources, ensuring that the technology team is appropriately staffed and equipped to meet the organization's needs.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture team in developing technical solutions that support the business goals of the organization.
  • Develop and implement the technical strategy for the organization in collaboration with the CTO and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business requirements.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to improve organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Define and enforce technical standards and best practices across the organization.
  • Ensure scalability, reliability, and security of the organization's technical infrastructure.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the architecture team and other technical staff.
  • Responsible for defining and communicating the architectural vision, strategies, and guidelines that align with SAFe principles to ensure that the architectural vision supports the objectives and goals of the organization's SAFe implementation.
  • Lead and guide solution and system architects to provide guidance and leadership in developing solution and system architectures that adhere to SAFe practices. This involves collaborating with Agile Release Trains (ARTs) and Solution Trains to ensure architectural alignment and consistency across teams.
  • Enables continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) to ensure that the architectural practices support CI/CD principles and practices within SAFe by promoting the use of DevOps techniques and tools to enable frequent and reliable software releases.
  • Facilitates and supports communities of practice by fostering and supporting communities of practice related to architecture within the SAFe implementation by providing mentoring and coaching to architects, facilitating knowledge sharing, and encouraging collaboration among architects across the organization.
  • Ensures compliance and governance by ensuring that architectural decisions and practices comply with organizational policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.

Functional Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day resource allocation of the global technology team.
  • Work with the CTO and stakeholders to understand resource needs and develop resource management processes.
  • Allocate technology team members to projects and initiatives and monitor workload.
  • Identify resource gaps and develop plans to address them.
  • Manage performance evaluations, career development, and individual development plans for technology team members.
  • Implement processes and tools to support resource management and performance management.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies.
  • Manage vendor relationships to ensure alignment with the organization's technical strategy.
  • Ensure adherence to best practices, standards, and agile methodologies.
  • Foster collaboration and effective communication among cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Technical Skills

  • 10+ years of experience in software development, architecture, engineering, resource management, or related roles.

  • Experience developing and implementing technical strategies that align with business goals.
  • Strong knowledge of software architecture, design patterns, and best practices.
  • Experience with multiple programming languages, databases, and operating systems.
  • Ability to evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools for improved efficiency.
  • Experience in managing vendor relationships and external technical resources.
  • Familiarity with project management tools such as Jira.
  • Knowledge of technology infrastructure, resource management processes, and performance management.
