About the role

As our first Controller, you will be a key member of management that works broadly across the organization, including internal and external partners, to ensure reliable, effective and efficient financial operations that are designed to scale in a high-growth environment.

What you’ll do

  • Have overall responsibility for all activities and controls leading to accurate and timely preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP, company policy, and federal and state regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including finance, operations, clinical teams and executive leadership to align financial objectives with overall business goals.
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls and processes to safeguard company assets and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Collaborate and manage relationship with our outsourced financial accounting partner, ensuring seamless communication, coordination, and execution of day-to-day work streams, monthly and annual closing processes, and financial reporting activities.
  • Support our FP&A team, senior management, and business leaders in analyzing and understanding operating results, financial trends and other key performance indicators. This role will provide analysis of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements as well as in-depth revenue and expense analysis to identify micro-level trends, risks and opportunities.
  • Support preparation of financial information included in board presentations.
  • Oversee all treasury operations including daily cash management, short to medium term cash forecasting and working capital optimization.
  • Oversee payroll processes and execution, ensuring timely and accurate payments to employees, including variable and incentive compensation.
  • Coordinate with our tax accountants to support tax planning, compliance, and timely filing of all tax returns at the federal, state and local level.
  • Coordinate with our external accounting firm to ensure timely and efficient completion of audit/review of financial statements. The controller will have the opportunity to lead the Company through its first financial statement audit.
  • Work closely with our FP&A team to lead the annual budgeting process to ensure alignment with our strategic and operating plans and complete alignment and transparency across the organization.
  • Be responsible for accounting for our equity awards by ensuring timely and accurate maintenance of our tracking & reporting system (Carta) and proper financial accounting under GAAP.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and special projects as assigned by senior management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA certification highly preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in a controllership role with experience in accounting, financial management, and financial reporting.
  • Experience in finance and accounting with a health care services provider highly preferred.
  • Strong technical expertise in accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and internal controls.
  • Proven experience with financial reporting, cash flow management, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls and accounting processes.
  • Proficient in accounting software and other software systems used in our business.
  • Detail oriented with a commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate insights to stakeholders.
