Please note this is a hybrid position and requires you to work from our Vancouver studio for part of the work week. This is not a remote opportunity.
Are you interested in joining the Animal Logic team of highly talented artists from around the globe? Have you got ace skills in Houdini when it comes to procedural modelling? We're looking for modellers who will get to create beautiful stylistic sets that captivate the audience for our upcoming project.
What you’ll get to do:
- Interpret 2D designs and translate them into 3D space while maintaining the original artistic intent
- Produce complex or stylized models to a high standard with a thorough understanding of shape, scale and topology
- Produce accurate UVs for models for use in downstream departments
- Produce highly optimised meshes that can be rendered and displayed efficiently for downstream departments such as Rigging, Layout and Lighting
- Assume responsibility for ensuring assigned work is produced to appropriate standard quality within the scheduled timeframe and deadline
- Maintain good communication with the Model Lead
What you bring:
- 3+ years’ experience modelling within a VFX or Animated Feature pipeline
- Proficiency with Maya and ZBrush
- Experience with procedural modelling in Houdini is a bonus
- Solid understanding of proper edge flow and polygon density
- Solid understanding of the topology for static and deforming objects
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to abstract and interpret design down to its fundamentals
- Strong organisational and time management skills

The base wage range for this position is $33.65 - $62.50 per hour. The wage offered for this role will be commensurate with, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skills, years of experience, relevant education, and other applicable qualifications related to the role. The wage offered is based on a 40-hour work week and is not inclusive on Animal Logic’s extended benefits package, long-term incentives, bonuses, overtime pay or other components that may be applicable to the total compensation package for this role
