Animal Logic – the company that brought you Happy Feet, The Lego Movie, Peter Rabbit, DC League of Super Pets and more – is on the hunt for Animators!

You will be responsible for producing high quality character performances for an animated feature that is in line with the Director’s creative vision. This is a fulltime, contract role that reports to the Animation Supervisor and Artist Management. This is a relatively short role and will commence in January 2023 running to mid-March 2023. For this reason we can only consider local candidates.

What you'll get to do:

  • Bring characters to life following the creative brief given
  • Animate using effective storytelling skills and an understanding of performance 
  • Understand the performance requirements for the film and in consultation with your Lead and/or Supervisor, provide input into the procedures and techniques that will enable these to be met
  • Adhere to deadlines and anticipate, communicate and troubleshoot technical issues with Production
  • Help provide solutions to creative briefs through existing tools & processes
  • Understand the department pipeline including all assets and tools, become proficient with the department’s propriety tools.

What you bring:

  • 2+ years’ industry experience in feature films, TV series or games with a focus in Animation
  • Experience working in a feature animated film pipeline
  • Proficiency to create stylized animation work at a high-end feature film quality level demonstrated through past project work and/or reel/portfolio
  • Working knowledge in animation techniques and a proficiency in 3d software packages, particularly Maya
  • Proven ability to produce feature film quality character animation in a range of styles
  • Solid knowledge of animation tools and workflow
  • Knowledge of traditional animation techniques and the principles of character performance such as posing, timing, acting and storytelling techniques
  • A strong knowledge of anatomy, movement and basic real world physics and their application for animation
  • Recognised post-secondary qualification in animation, film or related field preferable
  • A demonstrated passion and ability in 3d animation
  • Enthusiasm, positivity, initiative and talent coupled with an understanding for taking direction and performing tasks to the individual’s best abilities
  • The “eye” for the nuances of a believable action
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
  • A flexible approach while maintaining consistently high standards
  • Ability to balance workloads to achieve deadlines within a team environment
  • Strong written and verbal English language skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Willing to learn, and contribute to the success of the team and project
  • Have the ability to listen and be open to all feedback given
  • Open to new workflows and tool sets
