Are you an enthusiastic and outgoing person interested in joining our IT Support team in our LA office? You will be working with a vast and complex array of technologies for one of the world's leading visual effects and animation studios.

The IT Support Engineer is responsible for the successful and efficient management of technical operations in LA, helping to develop and implement structures, procedures and strategies to support the continuity of LA operations.

They will work in partnership with the Vancouver and Sydney IT teams to maximise efficiencies and ensure a unified administration of all key systems, applications and infrastructure. They will need to deliver seamless support and expert solutions in time critical situations to high priority (VIP) customers.

What you'll get to do:

  • Understand current production technology capabilities and limitations in order to construct timely solutions and strategies to meet Production requirements
  • Support the LA office with technical issues, communicating effectively with those you are assisting
  • Identify, test, and recommend new technology solutions tailored to client requirements, while adhering to security guidelines
  • Participate in, maintain, and synchronize multi-site production and operations workflows
  • Assist with the operation of servers, systems and equipment
  • Monitor and assess key system metrics to ensure structural integrity, forecast growth and maximize availability of technical resources
  • Enforce compliance with security policy
  • Identify, coordinate, and implement software and hardware upgrades
  • Test operating systems (preliminary and on-going) and software updates prior to pilot group testing
  • Monitor and project storage systems usage
  • Monitor redundant and remote backup strategies to maintain data safety
  • Identify security vulnerabilities and propose solutions as required
  • Devise maintenance and electrical outage shutdown and startup procedures – respond to and coordinate said events as they arise
  • Develop custom scripts and system add-ons tailored to client requirements
  • Provide development and testing feedback of in-house pipeline tools
  • Provide user training on security best practices and enforce security guidelines
  • Manage helpdesk queues and prioritize support tasks
  • Reconcile production requests with security

What you bring:

  • 2+ years’ experience in a Support Engineering role or a similar role
  • Experience working in a Post Services environment, within an Entertainment/Media industry is highly desired
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field or an equivalent level of competence obtained through experience, education and/or training
  • Experience using one of the following: Linux, Windows and Mac OS X systems; 365
  • Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and problem solve
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Excellent organizational skills required
  • Previous experience working with a global team across multiple time-zones is a bonus
  • Experiencing using Active directory or Microsoft Office is a plus
