ABOUT THE TEAM

The Air Defense team builds robots that detect airborne threats and neutralizes them. At a time when air superiority can no longer be taken for granted, the Air Defense Team provides mission critical capabilities to warfighters. From detection to tracking, identification, deterrence, and defeat, our family of networked sensors and effectors enables our customers to rapidly close the kill chain against a broad range of Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) threats. Working across product, engineering, sales, logistics, operations, and mission success, the Air Defense team develops, tests, deploys, and sustains the Anduril Air Defense Family of Systems (FoS) in challenging operational environments worldwide.

ABOUT THE JOB

We're hiring for a Site Reliability Engineer to join our growing team in Costa Mesa, CA. The Air Defense SRE role will be responsible for maintaining the software and configurations of the entire deployed fleet of the Air Defense family of systems across high-side, low-side, and test platforms and assets. They should proactively seek to drive down version skew, reduce manual operational overhead of sustaining the deployed Air Defense systems, drastically increase observability into the state of the system, They will be the primary owner of the configurations for a software and runtime configuration layer. This means maintaining a single source of truth that is accessible and usable by partner teams. They will partner closely with the Air Defense Mission Success, Mission Software Engineering, Technical Operations, and Mission Operations teams to ensure the technical success of our deployments.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Develop solutions to support deployment engineers in new and existing markets that enable Anduril to efficiently deliver war fighting capabilities
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplined teams to define and execute integration strategies that support deployment engineer needs
  • Design, develop, and deliver solutions using modern technologies that ensure scalable and fault tolerant delivery of systems to the warfighter
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external customers to identify technical solutions to their problems
  • Improve Anduril’s operational capabilities by improving our core product offering through root cause analysis and creating tooling capable of managing large scale deployments
  • Drive continuous organizational improvement by leading post-mortem events involving diverse stakeholders
  • Lead the organization in building scalable, sustainable mechanisms to continue delivering to customers at the pace the business is scaling
  • Participate in on-call rotation to ensure constant uptime across fleet of robotic systems

CORE REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to drive consensus across internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience developing and delivering solution to evolving problems in complex environments
  • Experience in the technical, programmatic, and operational challenges of developing and deploying autonomous weapon systems across command echelons
  • Experience building automations and tooling in Python
  • Experience delivering and maintaining systems that run on air-gapped and security-hardened networks
  • Experience building scalable solutions along with plans for implementation. Not just the end state, but what are the steps needed to get there while maintaining the customer experience
  • Experience performing data-driven root cause analysis on complex systems
  • Ability to understand, debug, and modify software written languages such as Go, Python, Rust, or C++
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Active Secret Clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience remotely debugging issues with the physical layer of electromechanical systems, esp. related to device networking
  • Experience maintaining Rust-based services
  • Experience with NixOS

US Salary Range

$124,000 - $186,000 USD

 

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
