Job Description:

Work closely with System Engineering group to define and capture high level and low
level requirements for items and systems to be tested. Oversee development and
execution of detailed test plans to verify that hardware and software items meet all
requirements. Specify and oversee installation, commissioning and maintenance of all
required testing capabilities (i.e. facilities improvements, lab equipment, test
equipment, data acquisition, and test-specific hardware and software) to allow
accurate and efficient testing of all hardware and software items. Oversee
procurement and contracting of third party test capabilities that supplement or
augment internal capabilities as required. Develop, maintain and enforce strict safety
policies for work with high voltage and high power electrical and mechanical
components and systems. Interface with design engineers to ensure a seamless
transition from development test to qualification test phase without delays. Oversee
generation of detailed test reports and presentations for design reviews and
regulatory oversight. Works with project managers to support the creation, maintenance and execution of project plans, work breakdown structures, and schedules related to system test activities. Ensure correct resource assignments
commensurate with the priority and complexity of project tasks. Directly perform all
of the functions above as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of increasing responsibilities including 5+ years supervising engineering staff
  • BS degree in Aeronautical, Mechanical, Electrical, Software or Mechatronics
  • Fundamental understanding of every key aircraft technical discipline
    (configuration, aero, systems, propulsion, structures, software/avionics, flight test,
  • Minimum 5 years of experience supervising or leading a product development team
  • Familiar with ARP 4754, ARP 4761, DO178, DO254, DO160
  • Experience with defining processes, procedures and tools used for hardware,
    electrical system and software systems validation and verification testing.
  • Experience with full product development life cycle
  • Strong working knowledge of system integration and verification activities;
    including requirement validation reviews, test procedure development, automated
    test development and execution, and verification coverage analysis
  • Experience using requirements management software. Jama experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with FAA certification per Parts 23, 33, 35, 36
  • Experience specifying and setting up laboratory equipment including power
    supplies, dynamometers and data acquisition systems
  • Demonstrated managerial, supervisory and leadership skills in a low-volume, fastpaced engineering and design environment
  • Demonstrated strong strategic thinking and communication skills
  • Demonstrated strong decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively present information and respond to questions
    from groups of managers and general user
  • Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of the organization to achieve

  • Highly motivated to provide project deliverables on time and be able to establish
    priorities when multiple deliverables coincide

  • MS degree in Aeronautical, Mechanical, Electrical, Software or Mechatronics
  • Strong proficiency with Jama requirements management tool
  • Oversee successful FAA Certification activities per Part 23
  • Experience with high power and high voltage electric power systems
  • Experience testing aircraft components and systems per DO-160G
  • Experience with qualifying hardware per DO178 and DO254 DAL Av
