ABOUT THE ROLE

YOU ARE

You are someone who is able to zoom out to view the big picture and zoom in to be more detail-oriented across multiple levels of the ecosystem that we are designing for. You are willing to lean and learn into change and failure; having the humility to accept that there may be no “right” answers per se, there are only hypotheses in cycles of continuous learning, having a “figuring it out” mindset in the face of uncertainty, trusting that your teammates will be there to support you.

You are guided by a strong sense of integrity and an even deeper sense of care for the work that you do, the people you do it with and students it impacts. You are capable to lead with both your head and heart, embracing evidence and instinct to create embodied learning experiences in the art and political act of design.

Last but not least, you are skilled listener capable at collaborating cross-functionally with a diverse range of stakeholders, remaining measured in your ability to engage with a multiplicity of perspectives and hold space for the creativity of others. You can design in, through, and with real constraints.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design online, blended, hybrid and in-person learning experiences
  • Assess the needs of the learners and the learning ecosystem to design effective and engaging learning experiences
  • Use technology to enhance and scale the learning experience using a wide variety of tools, strategies, and platforms
  • Develop learner personas, and student journey maps as part of the discovery and design process
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure that content matches established learning outcomes
  • End to end design of learning experiences and associated workflows from creation to implementation
  • Contribute to the development of learning design standards, templates, and facilitation guides to ensure quality at scale
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of instructional content and make adjustments using data driven approaches
  • Construct overarching frameworks and strategies that underpin academic and non-academic learning at ALU

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Qualifications in instructional/learning design, research, or any other relevant interdisciplinary Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)
  • Solid knowledge of contemporary and innovative educational strategies
  • 3+ years of working experience, in a related field a plus
  • Experience designing a wide range of learning experience solutions
  • Have a reasonable degree of familiarity with a learning management system like Canvas Learning Management System, Google suite and whiteboarding tools such as Miro
  • A working knowledge of universal design principles and a sensitivity toward designing for different learner abilities.
