ABOUT THE CRA TEAM

The Center for a Reimagined Africa (CRA) supports African public sector leaders in developing the expertise, experiences and partnerships needed to improve service delivery and outcomes for African citizens. Our flagship program is a year-long Public Sector Fellowship that brings together mid-to-senior government leaders charged with the design and implementation of key government projects that have significant impact on citizens.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Program Manager role focuses on all operational aspects of all programs within the CRA. This is a key operational and strategic role within the center: the holder of the role is expected to be able to see the picture from a 10000ft level and also operate at the ground level to ensure things get done effectively.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Operations 

  • Lead the design, development, implementation and improvement of all processes and systems at the CRA. 
  • Lead the design and execution of all operational elements of all learning experiences (this includes sourcing and managing venues and vendors, managing travel needs, and providing overall leadership).
  • Liaise with various internal and external stakeholders to ensure the effectiveness and success of all operational elements of programs (for example sourcing sites for visits during in-person sessions, sourcing and managing guests for various virtual sessions).
  • Design and execute various in-person and virtual events related to CRA programs including, symposia, roundtables and graduations.
  • Track the progress of all CRA projects against pre-agreed work plans. 
  • Propose, manage and improve the effective use of various technology platforms within the CRA team and in CRA programs. 
  • Lead activity and impact review and reporting for all CRA initiatives, projects and programs. 

Community 

  • Design and execute initiatives to ensure a vibrant CRA community, within and across cohorts and programs. 
  • Design and execute alumni initiatives to set the stage for a vibrant, lifelong community of CRA alumni. 

Recruitment 

  • Coordinate with the CRA director to design and develop selection criteria and recruitment strategies and processes for all CRA programs. 
  • Lead all operational elements of recruitment into CRA programs (this includes building applications and managing the recruitment process). 
  • Lead the onboarding of participants in various CRA programs. 

Finance

  • Develop and manage the budget for all operational elements of all CRA programs.
  • Lead financial reporting to relevant internal and external stakeholders for all CRA programs. 

Leadership and Management 

  • Lead teams as the CRA grows. 


*All responsibilities can be coordinated with relevant shared services teams as needed or required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Project management experience and a bias for action. You have successfully led the end-to-end execution of projects and you don’t mind getting your hands dirty to ensure the job gets done.
  • Process development. You have a keen eye for where processes are needed and can design and implement appropriate processes.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Keen appreciation for customer centricity 
  • Design experience (whether events or programmes)
  • Curiosity. The CRA is fairly new and provides an excellent opportunity to both learn and implement new things. You will enjoy and likely thrive in the role if you bring a sense of curiosity to it.
  • Comfort with ambiguity. The CRA is a new organisation and things will inevitably change over time.
  • Able to manage multiple responsibilities with competing deadlines and maintain a high level of calm under pressure.
  • Bachelor’s degree in any field.
  • At least 4 years of work experience (post graduation). Prior experience managing people is a significant plus.
