Description

Alto seeks a dynamic and energetic General Manager (GM) to develop and launch a best in class Over-The-Counter (OTC) business.  The GM is responsible for the P&L for the OTC business from revenue through to contribution.  The GM will work in close partnership with product and engineering to develop an in app experience launched as MVP and progressing to a best in class patient shopping experience and basket suggestion logic for scheduled deliveries.  The GM will be directly responsible for product assortment selection on an ongoing basis as well as developing and maintaining “the digital shelf.”  Furthermore, the GM will analyze and develop solutions to improve patient metrics across the patient lifecycle journey with focus on deepening basket penetration and share of wallet. The GM will also work closely with the marketing teams to develop and optimize consumer communication to drive OTC growth.

This position reports to the Chief Commercial Officer with interfaces across President/CEO, Therapeutic Area General Managers (TA GMs,) Chief Financial Officer (CFO,) Head of Operations, and Head of Product.   The GM will initially lead a team including one Associate and build out the team as the business scales.

 

The successful candidate will have strong skills and experience across the following areas:

  • eCommerce merchandising, assortment, pricing, and digital shelf management; particularly in an app enabled ecommerce context

  • Creating in app basket recommendations and basket expansion marketing campaigns

  • Thinking strategically to translate high level business objectives into clear, actionable initiates

  • Operating cross functionally working to bring solutions across sales, product, and operations

  • Taking initiative to simplify and solve complex problems influencing across a wide range of interdependent functions

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement 6 month OTC operating plan including leading a clear set of priorities that will rapidly scale the business

  • Partner with product, engineering, and fulfillment to develop and launch a MVP OTC customer experience; rapidly progress to a best in class customer experience

  • Develop item assortment and digital shelf assets for MVP launch and subsequent OTC expansion

  • Analyze and manage profitability from revenue to contribution on the OTC business

  • Establish and manage corporate relationships with key manufacturers to ensure access, maximize margins, and identify revenue driving opportunities

  • Collaborate with marketing to develop OTC-specific content and promotions

  • Monitor customer shopping behavior in app and identify opportunities for improvement

  • Maintain competitive pharmacy OTC pricing analysis at national and regional levels to inform product assortment and pricing

Qualifications:

  • 10-15+ years leadership experience in ecommerce, digital marketing, and merchandising/assortment/retail buyer related roles

  • 3-5 years pharmacy related experience desired

  • Excellent business judgment and analytical skills, and can use data to prioritize, drive strategic discussion, and ultimately deliver real outcomes 

  • Resourceful and entrepreneurial spirit. You enjoy doing whatever it takes to break through unexpected barriers and obstacles, and balance detail-orientation with the ability to move fast

  • Deep comfort with cross functional collaboration and leadership through influence

  • Stellar written and verbal communication skills

  • Proven success in a startup or other fast-changing environment a plus

  • B.A/B.S, MBA is a plus

Physical Job Requirements:

    Travel: Yes - Required up to 20% of the time for select industry events and field work
