About the role:
Altium is looking for talented, motivated individuals to join our new Data Engineering team. Based out of our Cambridge, UK office, you will be reporting to the Head of Data Engineering and be responsible for helping develop and maintain our next-generation data platform. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of data at Altium.
A day in the life of our Data Engineer
As a core developer of our next-generation data systems, you will be able to contribute to the design, development and maintenance of all aspects of our data infrastructure. This will include — but not be limited to — the following key areas:
- Building and maintaining data pipelines
- Integration of access management systems for various 3rd-party services (data warehouses, data presentation platforms) into our existing access control system
- Supporting our Data Science team in building and deploying AI/ML models
- Advising on data requirements and data design insights for current and future product development
- Supporting our business and other internal teams, our Product, Marketing, Finance teams in particular, and potentially customers as well, by providing access to source data and data visualization systems
- Other duties as assigned
Who We’re Looking For
- Experience working in a modern software development environment (version control, peer review, writing and maintaining tests and test infrastructure)
- You will likely have 5+ years of experience in:
○ Building and maintaining data pipelines, following Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) principles
○ Building and maintaining data access management systems, following Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) principles
○ Developing with any modern language - Expertise in developing and tuning complex SQL queries
- Experience in working with DevOps
In addition to the required expertise listed above, previous experience working with AI/ML, plus knowledge of supply chains (within the electronics domain) or general experience within the electronics industry would be a bonus. Experience with any of the following technologies would also be advantageous:
- C#, Go
- AWS (Lambda, RDS, DMS, SQS, SNS)
- DevOps experience, particularly infrastructure management using Pulumi or Terraform
- Experience with modern data engineering tools such as Databricks,
- BigQuery/Redshift/Snowflake, DBT
- Experience supporting data visualization systems such as Looker, Data Studio, Tableau, Domo
- Experience developing with orchestration tools such as Airflow or Prefect
- Awareness of and experience with developing in an InfoSec environment
- Experience in working with and developing cloud networking systems
