Principal Database Administrator

Designation: MS Principal Database Administrator

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Working knowledge of at least 2 database technologies – PostgreSQL\MySQL\MSSQL\Oracle\MongoDB\DB2 etc. Should have eagerness to learn and ability to leverage the knowledge to work on other database technologies.
  • Experience in at least one cloud technology – Azure\AWS\GCP.
  • Responsible for day-to-day activities regarding the upkeep and availability of all database servers in the environment.
  • Expertise in database architecture, design and performance optimization.
  • Should be able to quickly understand the database architecture and perform strategic analysis of database infrastructure to provide recommendations in improving performance.
  • Ability to identify the gaps in database performance, opportunities for improvements, and potential intrusions.
  • Leading the major incidents\outages and serving as an escalation point for complex problems.
  • Understanding and ensuring all database servers are managed to Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO).
  • Expertise in designing database DR strategies.
  • Develop and establish policies and procedures related to data security and integrity; monitor and limit database access as needed.
  • Handling the database projects by following project guidelines and ensuring timely deliverables.
  • Experience in writing automation scripts using T-SQL\Linux shell\Powershell or equivalent scripting languages.
  • Excellent Communication skills and mentoring team members on various technologies, policies and procedures.
  • Provide 24*7 support in rotational shift.

Qualifications:

  1. Graduate in bachelor’s degree or higher.
  2. Experience with large-scale database environments.
  3. Experience with working on multiple clients as shared resource.
  4. Excellent Communication and team coordination skills.
  5. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills with growth mindset.
  6. Ability to manage competing priorities and workflow by using interpersonal skills to provide a detailed, deadline, and result-oriented organization that motivates and encourages the team to meet their strategic objectives.
  7. Deep understanding of ITIL framework:  Incident, Problem, Change, and Service Request management processes.
  8. Ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization.
  9. Must have excellent interpersonal and time management skills.
  10. Detail Oriented, Multi- tasking and able to deal with tight deadlines and stress.
