PIH Health, a leading regional healthcare provider serving over 2.1 million residents in Los Angeles and Orange Counties, seeks a Vice President of IT Operations to oversee all aspects of information technology for our three-hospital system.

In this managed services engagement, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of IT while also executing our technology strategy. You’ll oversee all aspects of IT infrastructure, systems and operations. You will partner with business leaders to identify opportunities for improvement, implement innovative solutions, and ensure our IT systems meet the needs of our hospitals and ambulatory locations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Service Delivery 

  • Develop and execute strategic IT plans for business growth by leading and managing a team of 160+ IT professionals across core infrastructure, clinical & financial applications, desktop services, analytics & integration, IT security, and the enterprise program management office.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify business needs, optimize processes, implement creative solutions and measure results.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of a robust and scalable IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, storage and cloud services.
  • Ensure the availability, performance, and security of all IT systems and services, including disaster recovery. Minimize downtime and mitigate risks.
  • Understand the corporate environment and propose solutions aligned with business metrics.
  • Provide effective IT services for PIH hospitals and ambulatory locations. Manage and develop client relationships, resolving client issues effectively.
  • Integrate client service with software engineering to improve application usability.
  • Manage day-to-day operations, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving issues.
  • Develop and review backup & disaster recovery plans.
  • Enforce IT security best practices, including risk management, threat detection, incident response, and compliance. Ensure security of information systems, communication lines, and equipment.
  • Maintain operational accountability for change management.
  • Manage staff effectively to achieve goals, ensure motivation, and competence.

Account Management – Managed Services Engagement 

  • Drive profitable client growth and margin contribution by managing client relationships, service level agreements (SLAs), and staff performance. Ensure service delivery excellence, and resolution of client issues. Work with client executives to report on adherence.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of our PIH contract.
  • Work with sales and customer success teams to identify new opportunities within the engagement.
  • Identify and integrate emerging technologies to optimize healthcare delivery.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the IT department. Champion IT best practices, compliance, and user experience.
  • Identify and onboard talent quickly to maximize performance, cultivate strong internal relationships, and drive profitable account management.
  • Implement development plans, coach staff, and ensure high performance and achievement of individual and team objectives.
  • Regularly communicate company news and team progress against the business plan
  • Foster a culture aligned with core Harris company values and mission.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or other technology-related field, or an equivalent combination of education and technology experience.
  • MBA preferred

Work Experience

  • 15+ years’ information technology experience. Experience encompassing a range of disciplines, including infrastructure, applications, security, and program management is preferred.
  • 7+ years’ relevant leadership experience, including responsibility for organizational objectives and measurements
  • Proven track record of success in delivering IT solutions within a healthcare organization with the goal of helping to enable business areas to achieve operational efficiencies and to meet their strategic objectives.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare IT and relevant regulations.
  • Possess a solid understanding of corporate environments and business metrics. Able to propose solutions to achieve these metrics.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills. Skilled at conflict resolution and conducting crucial conversations. Possesses executive presence.
  • Experienced in managing large and diverse technology teams.

WORK LOCATION

This executive leader must live near our primary work locations of Whittier or La Mirada, CA. 

TRAVEL

Frequent, local travel to various PIH locations in the LA basin area. Some air travel for Altera meetings is expected, but minimal.
