The HIM Information Services team provides technical and software support to the HIM and Patient Access Services departments in the Health System.

Position Summary:

The HIM Associate System Analyst will join a team that provides technical and software support to the HIM and Patient Access Services departments. The position requires resolving break/fix tickets for production systems and participating in ongoing projects to roll out enterprise-wide software across the health system. The analyst will work closely with teammates, internal application and infrastructure teams, as well as external vendors to resolve issues and roll out/implement new systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Work under the direction of the team lead and senior team members to provide technical and application support for electronic document software, enterprise data management, enterprise forms automation, enterprise patient identifier, and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
  • Document project and change work using Microsoft (MS) Office and Visio tools.
  • Aggregate/compile data from multiple systems for reporting needs (CSV/Flat file/Excel/SQL).
  • Participate in application testing script generation and execution.
  • Work with RDP sessions on Windows Server 2016 and 2019 Servers.
  • Create SQL queries and Crystal Reports to extract data for analysis and reporting.
  • Install software patches and releases for multiple applications/vendors.
  • Work closely with infrastructure, applications, and vendor teams to resolve incidents.
  • Analyze Windows Event Logs and application logs.
  • Analyze Health Level Seven (HL7) messages for real-time and batch HL7 interfaces.
  • Configure and troubleshoot Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) websites.
  • Communicate confidently and articulately with clients and management.
  • Present and participate in conference calls with clients and coworkers.
  • Participate in 24x7 after-hours on-call support rotation for multiple applications. The rotation occurs every 5th week for a duration of one week.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with hospital staff, clinicians, and physicians.
  • Remote into client workstations using Bomgar to troubleshoot issues.
  • Utilize ServiceNow as the ticketing platform for Incidents, Requests, and Changes

Qualifications:

  • BA or BS degree preferred and/or other relevant combination of training and experience
  • Minimum of two years' experience in the Health information technology field. 
  • Minimum of two years' experience working with Windows Server 2016 and 2019 and exposure to HL7 interfaces.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Minimum of two years' experience with standard office apps such as Microsoft Office and Visio.
  • Preferred minimum of one year's experience with database tools for SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and Oracle SQL Developer.
  • Preferred minimum of one year's experience working with Microsoft IIS or similar web technology.
  • Familiarity with PowerShell scripting for basic data gathering and analysis purposes.
  • Experience with defects and change management processes.
  • Self-motivated individual with a proactive approach to problem-solving and a demonstrated ability to take initiative.
  • Ability to ask insightful questions and seek clarification when needed to ensure tasks are completed accurately and efficiently
