As the Dimensional Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Conduct thorough benchmarking of competitor vehicles relevant to ongoing projects.
- Establish targets by defining key interfaces for the vehicle, ensuring class-leading fit and finish.
- Develop critical sections for both interior and exterior interfaces and document them in a Build Objectives report.
- Collaborate with Design Engineering, Dimensional, and manufacturing teams to ensure feasibility of targets in volume production.
- Ensure that perceived/optical quality targets are achieved through cross-functional reviews.
- Employ Cubing Reference Models, Master Fixtures, and other tools to maintain the highest levels of craftsmanship in production.
- Suggest alternative surface, cutline, and interface executions to the Styling team to enhance craftsmanship results.
- Evaluate and enhance sensory aspects of products.
- Collaborate closely with suppliers and oversee product introductions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline.
- Demonstrated expertise in one or more areas of craftsmanship, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
- Proven attention to detail in both exterior and interior components and systems.
- Preferably, experience in the automotive industry.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve objectives.
- Track record of clearly communicating procedures and quality standards and ensuring their implementation.
- Capable of supporting complex projects.
- Strong logical reasoning, numeracy, and literacy skills.
- Experience completing a full program cycle from concept to production launch in automotive exterior and interior components and systems.
- Proficiency in materials selection, plastic injection molding/DFM, and GD&T.
Salary Range: $100,000 - $115,000
The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.
