About the Team:

The Data & Analytics team works across AlphaSense to make data an asset for growth. We do that through infrastructure, process, well-modeled and documented data, analysis, and deep partnership with the business. We own and manage the data stack, consisting of Segment, Fivetran, Stitch, Dataform, dbt, BigQuery, Github, Tableau and Looker. In addition to technical leadership, we partner across departments to raise the analytics bar, drive operational improvement, and support growth. Our work spans BI dashboards for business and executive users, ML models for critical business challenges, and data & infrastructure to support our AI engineers. 

About the Role: 

We are seeking a Product Owner to help further define and transform our BI / Data & Analytics Services and Data as a Product Roadmap.  This includes managing and prioritizing multiple value stream team backlog, and facilitating the agile development processes.  You will have expertise in Agile product development as well as knowledge in techniques and tools for discovery, delivery and continuous improvement.   As part of our Business Intelligence / Data & Analytics team, you will be working closely with a variety of business stakeholders, translating business needs into requirements for our team of analytics engineers and data analysts.  

This role will act as a steward of Data-as-a-Product/Analytics-as-a-Service vision, ensuring that what the team builds accrues to this vision, and enables valuable insights and capabilities to our stakeholders working to grow the business.

Who You Are:

  • A BS/MS degree in a relevant technical discipline such as Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Technology or equivalent.
  • Experience with an iterative Agile methodology and use of tools like JIRA, Confluence, Git, etc.
  • 2 years of Product Owner experience or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a multi-site setup is preferred.
  • Excellent leadership skills and servant leader mentality.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work both in a team environment and independently.
  • Understanding SQL and Python is a plus.
  • Familiarity with our particular stack is a plus (AWS, mySQL, Stitch, Fivetran, Segment, Dataform/DBT, BigQuery, Looker, Tableau), familiarity with similar tools is needed.
  • Strong presentation, organizational and time management skills and the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams in a complex, matrix environment.
  • Excellent ability to handle a heavy workload with multiple projects and frequent interruptions.
  • Excellent ability to work in a changing, dynamic environment.

What You’ll Do: 

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand and capture their data and analytics needs.
  • Own and oversee operational aspects of an Agile development cycle - e.g. epic breakdown, story writing, sprint planning, and delivery.
  • Manage and continuously improve the intake, prioritization, and backlog grooming processes for the team, listening objectively and with an open mind.
  • Show initiative, identifying more efficient ways of doing things.
  • Identify core issues at hand and reaches conclusive decisions after researching alternatives.
  • Ensure the team is working toward the same goals and to the best of their ability.
  • Coordinate dependencies with other product owners.
  • Ensure that the product backlog is visible, transparent and clear to all.
  • Facilitate Agile team Standups/meetings, ensuring alignment and clarity among the team.
  • Monitor and identify impediments to release objectives and suggest corrective actions as necessary.
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting to Senior Management to ensure corporate objectives are being met.
  • Document learnings, adopt a continuous improvement approach and transfer learnings to internal and external teams.
  • Assume responsibility for deployed applications and ensure systems are performing and available.
  • Look for new and future trends in the market and technology, to ensure that the data and analytics product and services are leading the field.
