Who we are:

Alpha Public Schools is a public charter school network of four schools educating approximately 1,900 scholars in east San Jose. Guided by the belief that our students belong in college, we ensure safe, inclusive, and student-centered learning environments to help our students thrive. What sets us apart is the very thing that makes us who we are– our community. Alpha was founded by a group of mothers on the eastside of San Jose who sought better educational opportunities for their students. We maintain a strong connection to our community and engage families in a collaborative approach to offer a holistic education to our students.

A successful Academic Counselor:

The successful Academic Counselor will play an integral role in student collegiate success. We are focused on ensuring that 75% of Alpha students graduate from a 4-year college within 6 years of graduating from Alpha, and to do that, our Academic Counselor will work with students grades 9-12 to ensure that they are progressing on track to reach high school graduation. They will additionally help students apply to a wide range of colleges, complete financial aid, and choose the college where the student is most likely to be successful. We seek team members who understand the importance of gaining the trust and confidence of students with widely ranging academic skills and habits and their families. The ideal candidate understands the power of one-on-one conversations to help others learn and grow. The Academic Counselor plays an integral role in teaching students to overcome academic, financial, and other obstacles to high school completion.
