OVERVIEW
Alo is looking for an experienced, motivated, and color obsessed Color Manager to oversee the Color team. As the Color Manager at Alo, you will work closely and collaboratively with the Raw Materials, Product Development, Sourcing, Design, and Merchandising teams to execute beautiful seasonal color stories from concept to shop floor. You will work to commercialize seasonal palettes, analyze lab dips through the development process, and act as the keeper of color integrity throughout the entire production process.
You will ensure that colors meet our color matching and colorfastness tolerances, adhere to calendar deadlines, and represent the Color Team in cross functional meetings.
The ideal Candidate will have 5-10 years of experience as a Colorist; with a performance brand is a plus. The Color Manager will help assure our product and quality is built with integrity, intention and aligned with our brand vision and values.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work closely with overseas vendors to manage the tracking and receiving of all lab dips and bulk dye-lots
- Ensure the process to maintain accurate color records and color approval histories in color library
- Manage the team so that all color is managed and tracked in our PLM system
- Familiarity with Spectrophotometer is a must
- Order and receive all color pantones for cross-functional teams
- Oversee the calendar for the Color team; accountable for timely adherence to calendar dates
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams: Design, Product Development, Sourcing, and Raw Material, Merchandising
- Establish tools to measure and track supplier performance
- Partner with mills and dyestuff suppliers on color innovations
- Understand color feasibility and educate cross functional partners regarding limitations
- Some travel may be required
- Maintain Color Department SOP
- Manage a team of three people
QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in apparel, textiles or related field. Experience working at an apparel brand in production/product development is a plus. Preferably sport performance or fashion brand
- Superior score on Munsell Hue Test
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft office products
- Familiarity with Adobe products
- Must be extremely organized, have a great attention to detail, and can multitask.
- Ability to solve problems and analyze
- Working knowledge of textile fabrics and accessories is necessary
- Must know how to correctly use a spectrophotometer to accurately assess color samples
- Previous experience managing others is a plus
- 5-10 years experience working in Color
The base salary range for this position is $125,000-$150,000 per year which represents the current range for the base salary for this exempt position. Please note that actual salaries will vary based on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. As such, on occasion and when applicable, there is the possibility that the final, agreed-upon base salary may be outside of the upper end of the range. Please also note the range listed is just one component of the company’s total rewards package for exempt employees. Other rewards may include performance bonuses, long term incentives, a PTO policy, and many other progressive benefits.
